There was a moment Blace knew well — coming home after a long shift, key barely in the door, and already Blitz was there. Not just wagging his tail, but his entire body, that enormous frame somehow trying to contain every ounce of joy he had stored up since you left. That after-work greeting was its own kind of medicine.
He was a gentle giant in the truest sense — big enough to clear a coffee table with one sweep of his tail, soft enough to notice when you were sad before you said a word. He didn't need a reason to love you. He just did, immediately and completely, drool and all.
Born in November 2017 and welcomed into Blace's life in 2020, Blitz filled every room he entered with something impossible to manufacture — a soul that was purely, effortlessly happy. He taught by example, never by words, and somehow that made the lesson land even deeper.
He was known for three things most of all:
- Catching the scent of a BBQ from what felt like miles away, his nose leading the charge before anyone even fired up the grill — though nothing beat a hot dog from his Maw Maw
- Sneaking onto the bed for an afternoon nap, those puppy eyes making it absolutely impossible to ask him to move, so you just joined him instead
- Running house to house down the street the second he got outside, tail flying, looking for anyone willing to play, meet, or simply receive his enormous, drooling love
He was an alarm clock, a snuggle buddy, a tear-licker, a bone-chewer, a thief of water bottles and unguarded plates. He played hide and seek in the neighborhood and somehow always looked like he was smiling while he did it. He made everyone around him feel like the most important person in the world, and he did it without trying at all.
There is a lesson buried in the way Blitz lived — that showing love freely and without hesitation is never wasted, that a smile on someone's face is always worth the effort. Blace saw it every day and is carrying it forward, making sure everyone nearby gets to feel what Blitz always gave.
He passed peacefully on December 1st, 2025, surrounded by the family he adored, his people right where he always wanted them — close.
*Run to every door, greet every stranger, and save a spot on the bed, sweet boy — you'll never be far.*
